This year-long course will give students who have a sincere interest in composition and/or songwriting a strong foundation in music theory. The course will begin with an exploration of basic scales and harmonic functions of chords, moving toward an understanding of form and structure in all kinds of music.
This course will be particularly useful to students taking the recording direction course, as it will give them a basic understanding of the way music works, and how to guide performers through the structure of a piece. Students will be expected to compose songs and pieces in a variety of styles throughout the year.
Dieses Elective erstreckt sich über zwei Semester und wird entsprechend doppelt gewertet. Es wendet sich daher an Studierende aus dem 2. oder aus dem 6. Semester, sofern diese im 7. Semester noch ein Elective belegen möchten.
Die Unterrichtssprache in diesem Elective ist Englisch.

Am Beispiel des Features vermittelt dieser Kurs wichtige Konzepte und Strategien narrativer Audioproduktionen. In Gruppenarbeit schreiben und produzieren alle Studierende ein Kurz-Feature von 15 bis max. 20 Minuten.
Das Manuskript fließt zu 33,3 % in die Note ein, die Präsentation des fertig produzierten Features zu 66,6 %.
